Immediate openings available Background Check required About the Role NSC Technologies is hiring experienced Shipfitter Journeypersons for a high-profile marine project. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled tradespeople with experience in shipyard structural repair and fabrication —especially those familiar with US Navy, Military Sealift Command, and commercial vessels . Key Responsibilities Perform steel and aluminum structural work on various marine vessels, including U.S. Naval ships and barges. Interpret and work from blueprints, weld symbols, ship repair drawings, and specifications . Fabricate, modify, and install ship structures and foundations using SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding processes. Cut, grind, and prepare materials using oxy-acetylene torches, power tools, and structural shop equipment (shears, punches, brakes). Construct templates and accurately lay out components in accordance with the 5XXX aluminum standard . Read and write Condition Found Reports (CFRs) and provide recommended corrective actions. Use proper PPE and follow all OSHA safety standards and procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out protocols . Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in variable weather conditions aboard ships and shipyard environments. Minimum Requirements 4+ years of marine shipfitting experience Skilled in structural fabrication, welding, and hot work procedures Strong understanding of ship terminology, compartment location nomenclature , and N AVSEA standards Proficient with hand and power tools including saws, drills, grinders, and torches Able to read blueprints, sketches, and damage control diagrams Experience working with aluminum 5XXX series materials Able to take accurate measurements using both standard and metric systems Preferred Qualifications Familiar with ABS, NAVSEA, and Coast Guard standards Ability to direct and mentor helpers or apprentices Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Previous work on U.S. Navy or government vessels is highly desirable Work Environment Outdoor/indoor shipyard and vessel-based work Confined spaces, heights, scaffolding, ladders PPE required at all times (hard hat, respirator, steel toe boots, etc.) High noise environment; safety-first culture Physically demanding: lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing Why Join NSC Technologies?
