Founded by Robert and Mariah Tubb, A-1 Chimney Specialist has been in business for 22 years. A-1 is a family-run business that focuses on quality work. Mariah’s brother and father started Clean Stacks Chimney Sweep in 1985 and Robert started working there in 1996. A friendship turned into love and Robert and Mariah were married in 1998. After Mariah’s father passed away in 2001, they started fresh with their own company and A-1 Chimney Specialist was born. It has since grown to include 8 technicians, one of which is their son. We provide chimney inspections, maintenance, repair, installation, custom chimney caps, masonry repair, flashing and dryer vent cleaning. We serve the areas of Southern Middle Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley. A-1 Chimney Specialist’s owner Robert Tubb is a CCP Certified and has been in the chimney care business for over 26 years. Workday begins at 7:30 a.m. End of day varies day to day depending on job and work load.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and sweep chimneys, fireplaces, and dryer vents
- Perform repairs on chimneys and fireplaces (chimney crowns, tuckpointing, flashing, etc.)
- Install chimney caps, chase covers, flue caps, etc.
- Climbing up and down ladders and scaffold and working on a roof
- Operate/handle machinery, tools, and safety equipment properly and efficiently
- Explaining chimney and fireplace issues to clients
- Excellent Customer Service Skills and Abilities

- Able to work outside year-round in temperature and weather extremes
- Ability to work individually as well as with a team
- Ability to write inspections/reports using clear and concise grammar and trade specific language
- Desire to learn and grow in the trade
- Comfortable with heights and climbing ladders/scaffold
- Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.
- Ability to work over-time if needed during busy season
- Ability to pass certification exam within 3 months of hire
- Ability to pay attention to detail

- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Qualifications, Education, & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Construction or related: 1 year (Preferred)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Valid drivers license with clean driving history
