Job Summary:

Our Client is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Junior Landscape Designer to join their team. This role will be integral in supporting the Principal in all phases of the design process, from initial concept development through construction documentation and potential construction oversight. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working in the field, be highly organized, a creative force who isn’t afraid to think outside the box, and be capable of eventually taking a lead role in plan production, contributing to the creation of high-quality design deliverables for their high-end residential projects. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with site analysis, inventory, and research for high-end residential landscape design projects, including researching municipal code requirements and Architectural Review Board (ARB) guidelines.
  • Develop conceptual designs, schematic plans, and preliminary layouts under the guidance of the Principal.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed construction documents, including but not limited to:
  • Planting plans and specifications
  • Hardscape plans and details (patios, walkways, walls, pools, etc.)
  • Irrigation plans (as needed)
  • Lighting plans (as needed)
  • With increasing experience and demonstrated proficiency, take a lead role in the preparation of these documents.
  • Prepare compelling client presentations using InDesign or PowerPoint, including plant material image boards, concept imagery, and material image boards.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Principal on all aspects of project development and design refinement.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and consultants as needed.
  • Be open to learning and assisting with construction oversight tasks, including site visits and coordination between different trades and contractors.
  • Contribute to the research and selection of appropriate materials, products, and plant species.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation.
  • Provide overall support to the Principal, which may include some administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required, with the ability to independently create and manage construction document sets.
  • Experience with SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) is highly preferred for design visualization and presentation.
  • Familiarity with or a willingness to learn Land F/X software for potential workflow efficiency is a plus.
  • Excellent graphic communication and visual presentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a small team and take initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and technical abilities, including examples of construction drawings and detailing, is required (please submit a digital portfolio or a link to your online portfolio with your application).
  • Familiarity with plant palettes and construction methods relevant to the Jacksonville, Florida area is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local project sites as needed.
