07/02/2025 $18.64 to $20.50 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Merritt Island. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs skilled crafts and trades work operating moderately complex automotive vehicles and/or equipment and performing routine automotive service and maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of experience operating moderately complex automotive vehicles and equipment, including slope mowers, flat-deck tractor mowers, street sweepers, bucket trucks, 18-yard dump trucks, or other similar specialized mowing and/or maintenance equipment used to maintain roads and drainage rights-of-way (ROWs); OR two (2) years of experience as a Brevard County Automotive Equipment Operator II. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience operating a mini-excavator or front-end loader are preferred. Experience using a digital work management application to document all work is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. This is heavy physical work that involves exposure to hot asphalt, concrete, dirt, dust, fumes and odors, noise, insects, working in and around moving traffic and machinery, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. Employer
