MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months experience in the operation of heavy duty trucks and equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Requires a valid FL class B CDL prior to employment; may require an “N” endorsement for tanker truck dependent upon departmental assignment. Role and Responsibilities
Drives and operates trucks and equipment in the loading, hauling and distribution of materials and in construction and maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
:
Operates trucks and equipment, to include steel wheel, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, spreaders, bush hogs, compactors, rollers, pick-ups, grapple trucks and bucket trucks. Operates hand tools, to include chainsaw, shovel, axe and rake. Performs physical labor in the maintenance, restoration or construction of roadways, drainage systems or disposal sites. Loads trucks with clay, sand, rock and soil. Inspects trucks, tools and equipment. Ensures the maintenance of trucks, tools and equipment. Assists with traffic control at work sites, to include flagging, and erecting barricades and signs. Cuts trees, limbs and shrubbery on right-of-ways or adjacent road and traffic areas of assigned work site. Clears ditches, culverts, drains, gutters and beaver dams where applicable.
