Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in land clearing to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of heavy machinery such as excavators, wheeled loaders w/rakes, bulldozers w/rakes, skid steers, and forestry mulchers to clear land in preparation for construction or development. The operator must have a strong understanding of safe operating procedures and terrain management.
Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, wheeled loaders with root rakes, skid steers, and mulchers for land clearing projects. Remove trees, stumps, brush, and be able to grub other obstacles from work sites efficiently and safely. Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes. Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment. Work closely with site supervisors and crew members to complete tasks on schedule. Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and work completed. Identify potential hazards and report them immediately.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in land clearing or related construction work. Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required). Certification or training in heavy equipment operation is a plus. Ability to work in various weather conditions and rough terrain. Availability to work on out of town projects. Excellent physical stamina and hand-eye coordination.
Work Environment:
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Physically demanding, including lifting, standing, and operating equipment for long periods.
