Full Job Description Summary:
The Backhoe Operator is responsible for the operation of crawler or rubber tired tractor with a hydraulic boom with bucket to dig and move road construction material, and assisting with all phases of the grading operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Excavate, load, spread or level dirt, sand, rock and other materials Assist in loading trucks and other hauling units Assist in maintenance of job site Maintain all equipment/tools Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task; properly follow all Company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred Previous experience operating heavy equipment is required Ability to understand and follow instruction; communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the public.

The employee is occasionally required to reach, push and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
