OBJECTIVE
- To operate various trucks to transport equipment, materials and work crews to work sites and to perform manual tasks as required. Operate grass-cutting equipment on County property and right-of-ways. Position may also include the duties ofreplacing and/or repairing tires on various forms of equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- 1.
Operates light and medium duty trucks and trailers to transport light and medium equipment and materials to assigned work sites and dumping areas2. Operates front-end loader to load dirt, gravel and other materials onto trucks3. Operates hand and tractor mounted mowing equipment to cut grass or brush from ditches and right-of-ways4. Loads and secures small and medium equipment on trailers for transport to job site5. Drives truck with trailer to transport small and medium equipment to job site.6. Checks assigned equipment daily to assure that tire pressure, fuel, oil and other fluid levels are sufficient; adds oil, fuel or other fluids. Operates steam cleaner and water hose to clean equipment.7. Reviews assigned projects to determine equipment, personnel and materials needed; notifies Foreman or Superintendent of additional materials or equipment required.8. Operates hand and power tools to make street/road repairs.9. Instructs other operators in the operation of equipment.10. Notifies Foreman or Superintendent of unusual situations and equipment malfunctions.11. Performs unskilled laboring tasks12. Certification in Incident Command Structure categories preferred13. Performs other related duties as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Some knowledge of maintenance requirements for light and medium duty trucks
- Skill in the operation of light and medium trucks and trailers
- Skill in the operation of hand tools
- Skill in the operation of hand and tractor mounted mowing equipment
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
- Ability to locate assigned work sites from instructions or maps
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Knowledge of all related safety proceduresThese knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of high school and at least two (2) years of experience in the operation of light and medium equipment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will he considered.
