EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IV
JOB SUMMARY:
Purpose of this position is to operate heavy and complex equipment including but not limited to trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, backhoes, etc. This position also performs repair work on equipment, vehicles, and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

- Operates heavy and complex equipment including but not limited to track hoe,backhoe, tractor, mower, front-end loader, dump trucks, bob trucks, blowouttrucks, and asphalt machines.
ï? - Operates grader to level surfaces and spread surfacing materials.
ï? - Operates dragline, grader, and bulldozer in cleaning or constructing ditches,roadways or other assigned projects.
ï? - Load and secure medium and heavy earth-moving equipment on trailers fortransport to job site.
ï? - Drives trucks with trailers to transport medium and heavy earth-movingequipment.
ï? - Performs preventative maintenance and makes minor repairs and adjustment toequipment; operates steam cleaner and water hose to clean equipment
ï? - Reviews assigned projects to determine equipment, personnel and materialsneeded; notifies Foreman or Superintendent of additional materials or equipmentrequired.
ï? - Perform other duties as assigned.
ï? - Generate daily detailed work reports.
ï? - Operate hand and power tools to make street/road repairs.
ï? - Perform unskilled laboring tasks.
ï? - Certification in Incident Command Structure categories preferred.
ï? - Notifies Foreman or Superintendent of unusual situations and equipmentmalfunctions.
Requirements:
ï?
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in variousmaintenance and construction activities.
ï? - Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
ï? - Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions.
ï? - Knowledge of maintenance requirements for light, medium and heavy-dutytrucks.
ï? - Skill in operation of hand and tractor mounted mowing equipment
ï? - Knowledge of techniques of loading and transporting heavy equipment.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Mississippi Class A Commercial Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for duration of employment in this position.
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the graduation from High School or GED equivalent. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

- Physical environment consists of indoor/outdoor exposure to various extremes ofclimate and weather.
ï? - Will include physical motions of sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing,pulling, crouching, twisting, grasping, climbing, lifting and carrying heavy itemsand other physical motions.
ï? - Occasionally required to work early shifts, respond to call back or emergencyprocedures at all hours of the day, including holidays’ and weekends.
ï? - Employees in this position are subject to random alcohol and controlledsubstance testing in accordance with the federal mandated OmnibusTransportation Employee esting Act of 1991.
ï? - This position is considered non-exempt from the FLSA and as such qualifies forovertime compensation for any hours worked over forty hours per week.
