Our team also delivers a fully comprehensive construction services line to municipal, state, federal, heavy highway, commercial, and private customers. We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing company. With safety always being in the forefront, the Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. New Castle Paving services the Capital District and a few outlying counties. There are not any long distance, extended travel requirements for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Follows all safety and health guidelines and regulations at all times. Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, rollers, and skid steers. Ensure that the job site is clean and the conditions are safe; collect and secure all tools and equipment at the end of each shift to minimize theft and hazards. Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift. Performs other related duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation, capabilities, and proper maintenance. Perform a variety of tasks that require physical mobility. This includes walking, climbing, stretching, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time and in various conditions. Must be able to perform visual and hearing tasks such as back-up spotting, making eye contact with co-workers for safety measures, hear and react to back-up alarms on vehicles and equipment. Perform material handling and storage. Ability to follow instructions.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to operate in the field, as needed, in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold. Must be able to work extended shifts greater than 8 hours along with occasional weekends and nights when the job requires it. Must be flexible and willing to take directions from supervisors. Must have reliable transportation for travel between multiple job sites on a daily basis. Must have reliable and punctual attendance .

Education & Experience:

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Experience in Heavy Highway Construction, Paving, and/or Site Work preferred.
