THE POSITION

OF WORK
As an Equipment Operator with PennDOT, your role will epass essential tasks such as snow plowing and working on various construction sites, both of which play a crucial part in ensuring the safety of travelers on Pennsylvania’s roadways. In addition to operating heavy machinery, you will engage in manual labor, conduct minor repairs on equipment, and perform routine preventative maintenance on trucks and other machinery. This multifaceted position not only demands physical effort but also requires amitment to maintaining the infrastructure that supports themunity. Each day spent in this role brings a sense of aplishment and purpose, as you contribute to the well-being of the public and the overall functionality of the state’s transportation system. Work Schedule and Information:

Full-time .
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Travel, overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $44,988.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Successfulpletion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School; or An equivalentbination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period.
Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
