Job Description

  • Job Description Summary:
  • This is a full time position whose main purpose is to operate/maintain HFCA heavy/construction equipment for any HFCA department that requires an equipment operator. Employee is under the direction of the Assigned department supervisor. Employee in this classification must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and all duties assigned.
  • Essential Functions of the
Job:
  • Receive assignments and service orders from the assigned department supervisor
  • Work in cooperation with any other Department Supervisors in fulfillment of duties
  • Ensure that daily tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform/Operate within OSHA and local safety standards and guidelines
  • Keep a daily log of completed jobs and who was assigned to you. 
  • Competencies:
  • Ability to properly operate all equipment related to Public Works
  • Maintain the ability to meet random HFCA drug testing requirements
  • Operate heavy equipment such as a back-hoe, loader, and excavator with a competent ability to move or place equipment or materials in a safe and efficient manner as directed.“`{=html}“
  • Inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and refilling equipment with fuel and/or fluids as required by manufacturer
  • Understand and perform PM on all equipment operated.“`{=html}“
  • Ability to promote and maintain positive work relations, environment, and communicate effectively with all HFCA staff. 
  • Work Environment:
  • Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors during all seasons of the year. Work will require driving for lengthy periods during snow removal and road treatment operations.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Physical requirement of the job and work include standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 70 pounds, overhead arm work and ability to withstand exposure to inclement, cold weather conditions for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED Certification
  • At least three (3) years of experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Certifications or Licenses:
  • Possession of a valid PA driver’s license and ability to drive standard shift vehicles
  • Class B CDL driver’s license is a must; with the expectation of acquiring a Class A level CDL within 1 year of initial hiring date.
