FUNCTION

Serves as heavy equipment operator primarily responsible for the safe operation of all equipment in Property Maintenance. Ensures that all support and service is conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the vision of “One Brays” goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Show expert qualities in the proper procedures of operating the 15′ and 20′ mowers, dump truck, front end loader and backhoe. 2. Show expert qualities on the front-end loader, bull dozer and track hoe in the operations at the burn pile in North field. 3. Show expert qualities on the proper procedures of operating the motor grader and tree spade. 4. Maintains minor preventative maintenance on all equipment; check gauges, fluids, grease, etc. 5. Operates small power tools such as chainsaws, cut-off saws, generators, pumps and compressors. 6. Foster a “One Brays” culture that ensures alignment to values, engagement, owner-centricity, and resource sharing. 7. Practices all company safety and OSHA regulations related to the operation and maintenance of equipment and tools. 8. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Position involves climbing, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 100 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must be able to transport oneself not only to Property Maintenance, but also around the plantation. 2. Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed. 3. Must be able to work extended hours, days, weekends and holidays when necessary. 4. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discrimination in sound perceiving their nature with no less than 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz. 5. Must possess the proper training and (as applicable) licenses necessary to operate all types of maintenance equipment, to include mowers, trenchers, trucks, backhoe, front-end loader, fork lift, and all-terrain vehicles. 6. Ability to express or exchange information by means of the spoken word.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be able to work constructively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of the department’s activities. 2. The employee may be required to participate in more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays; the employee must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently and cheerfully under such circumstances. 3. Exposed to outside elements, including rain, wind, cold, extreme heat, and humidity. 4. The employee will be in the vicinity of site-specific vegetation and native species of reptiles and mammals, subjecting the employee to possible injury from contact or bites. Proper footwear, headgear, and maintenance attire should be worn for protection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High school graduate or ability to obtain high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge:

High level of heavy equipment knowledge preferred.

Skills:

Read, speak, comprehend English enough to understand plans.

Experience:

Three to five years’ experience operating heavy equipment including preventative maintenance skills.
