Job Description:
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining crane equipment used in the processing and sorting of scrap metal. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring materials are moved efficiently and safely within the facility. Heavy Equipment Operator Key Responsibilities Experience working in a steel mill helpful and strong concern for performing job safely Must be able to operate cable or hydraulic crane, frontend loader, truck driver (automatic transmission) Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, bulldozers, and excavators, within the steel mill. Transport materials such as scrap metal, slag, and steel products to appropriate areas. Ensure all machines and equipment are properly maintained and report any malfunctions. Assist with loading and unloading raw materials into production areas.
Qualifications:
3-5 years experience required Proven experience as a crane operator, preferably in scrap metal or industrial settings. Valid crane operator certification (OSHA or equivalent). Strong knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for operating heavy machinery. Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on crane equipment.
