Position Summary:

The Painter / Finish Work Technician is responsible for the final stage of production ensuring all ironwork is clean, prepped, and finished to the high visual and quality standards that define Ensley Iron. This includes cleaning, sanding, priming, painting, touch-up, and final inspection of mild steel and cast-iron products before installation or delivery. Attention to detail, consistency, and pride in your finished product are critical to this role.

What You’ll Do:

Surface Prep. Prepare ironwork for painting by grinding, sanding, cleaning, and removing rust, slag, or residue to ensure proper adhesion and a clean finish. Painting. Apply primers and paints using sprayers and brushes to achieve a smooth, consistent finish in line with Ensley Iron’s quality standards. Touch-Ups. Perform touch-up work as needed during staging, transport, or just before installation to maintain finish integrity. Quality Control. Inspect all painted products for proper coverage, color consistency, and surface quality. Organization & Maintenance. Label and organize painted items for staging and loading. Maintain all painting tools, spray equipment, and the paint area to ensure a clean, hazard-free workspace. Teamwork. Coordinate with the fabrication and installation teams to stay aligned with project schedules and ensure seamless transitions from production to delivery.

Skills You’ll Need:

Coachability. Open to feedback and eager to learn, with a willingness to adapt to improve skills and processes. Initiative. Proactively seek out ways to improve your technique, stay productive, and contribute to shop efficiency. Experience. Experience with prepping and painting metal surfaces using sprayers and brushes is preferred. Must be proficient in grinding, sanding, cleaning, and applying finishes.

Job Type:

$16.12 – $21.50 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
