Position Description Paint various protective coatings to piping, fixtures, and equipment. Also remove old paint and prepare surfaces prior to painting. These duties are to be performed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible. Job Responsibilities Use brush, airless, compressed air and roller methods. Knowledgeable of application techniques. May use epoxy, latex or enamel coatings. Select and mix coating additives to thin or promote drying and adhesion. May use high pressure sandblasting equipment, chemical application, power tools and other abrasives to remove rust and foreign matter prior to paint application. Prep and prime surfaces prior to coating. Respiratory protection is common and required in many applications. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Other duties may be assigned. Job Qualifications 3 years’ experience in the construction field 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work Must be at least 18 years of age. Must also be trained and qualified to build scaffolds, inspect ladders and operate man lifts in order to access the work. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor. Must be able to utilize basic math and be able to read a tape measure or ruler and calculator to determine amount of paint required. Employee must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments. Must be able to work from 200 feet and in some cases wear a respirator. Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
