SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
A worker who assists a sheet metal mechanic, plumber, pipefitter/welder, service technician, or installation mechanic by performing a variety of duties during the installation of residential or commercial air conditioning and heating, plumbing IAQ, or service related jobs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Transports tools, materials, components, and refuse to and from work area. Lifts or holds part while mechanic fits, aligns, and fastens them into position. Bolts and unbolts parts, using hand tools. May cut and thread pipe to specified length, using pipe cutter, stock, and die. May insulate cabinets and systems. Keeps work area, tools, and equipment clean. Performs more complied work depending on experience. Performs other routine duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must closely follow safety rules for using hand tools, ladders, and scaffolding. May be required to work on roof-tops, attics, and in crawl spaces. Time spent on job sites would involve the typical safety hazards associated with any construction site.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Stand on feet for long periods of time, lift 25-100 pounds
Work in confined areas such as attics, under houses, in crawl spaces. in extreme heat or cold
Work from heights such as scaffolding and ladders, and climb stairs
Work around other construction trades, dust, sawdust, insects, and work with sharp metals, fiberglass, Freon, and various other glues and solvents
Use power tools properly and safely
Measure and cut metal and read the measurements of others
Good driving record (No DUI’s, reckless driving, excessive speeding, etc. within last 3 years)
React quickly, follow directions, work well with others.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in this field or related field is helpful, but not necessary.

A helper may learn the trade he is working with but does so without formal agreement or contract with Air Design Systems.
