Pipe Fitter Reports to: Pipe Shop Manager Location & Schedule Athens, GA and/or
Commerce, GA Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Saturdays as needed, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

Responsibilities Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and material specs. Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications. Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes. Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positions. Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure them in position for welding. Install hangers, supports, valves, and components according to piping system plans and specs. Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping system. Properly identify and use tools required for tasks (grinders, drills, beveling machine, etc.). Operate forklifts and overhead cranes. Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Demonstrate industrial construction/maintenance experience. Ability to read prints and construction drawings. Must be able to pass a written pipe fitting exam. Must understand how to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures such as ISOs and blueprints. Ability to read and interpret manuals and manufacturer’s instructions. Must have 1+ years of experience with pipe fitting processes. Ability to take detailed instructions. Positive “can do” attitude, strong work ethic, and team player. Good problem-solving abilities, communication skills, aptitude, and manual dexterity. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical, and structural drawings. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices. Ability to use Oxy/fuel and Plasma hand cutting torch. Daily housekeeping of the work area. Flexible working schedule to support needs. Considered a Plus Pipe fitting experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4, and
API 1104
codes. Welding and/or tacking experience using the GTAW process. Fit up and layout experience on structural steel. Familiarity with weld inspections, inspection documentation, and NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT). NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter. Formal/Technical education.
