Job Description:

You will support new construction and repair projects aboard marine vessels at the Bollinger Mississippi Shipyard. Your role includes fabricating, fitting, and installing piping systems using precision tools and techniques. Work is often performed in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions. Flexibility for both day and night shifts is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret complex piping blueprints and isometric drawings Accurately measure, cut, layout, and fit piping systems per spec Operate oxy-fuel cutting torches safely (no grinders used during testing or fitting) Work with various pipe materials including carbon steel, stainless, and copper-nickel Maintain safety standards in all environments (heights, confined spaces, all-weather conditions)

Job Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of shipyard experience as a 1st Class Pipefitter Proven ability to layout and assemble pipe systems to blueprint specifications Proficiency with torch cutting and safe handling techniques Must supply all required tools and PPE (see list below)

On-site Practical Test Required:

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to: Build a pipe assembly from a given drawing Use only a cutting torch (grinders not allowed) Execute accurate layout, cutting, and tacking Meet inspection standards for fit-up and quality Required Tools & PPE (Must Bring Your Own): Tape Measure Square (Speed or Framing) Welding Shield Work Gloves Pipefitter’s Blue Book Wrap-Around (for pipe layout) Welding Jacket Hard Hat (any color except white or gold) Candidates without these items will be sent home.

Shifts Available:
Day Shift:

6:30 AM – 5:00

PM Night Shift:

5:00 PM – 3:30

AM Work Hours:

40-70 hours/week Overtime may be voluntary or mandatory depending on workload

Orientation:

Held at Bollinger Mississippi Shipyard (typically Mon/Wed/Thu at 8:00 AM) Includes safety and onboarding 4 hours of paid time for attendance Schedule may vary depending on operational needs Ready to Join the Crew?
