Are you an experienced pipefitter ready to tackle complex marine piping systems and work on high-impact naval and commercial ship repair projects? We’re looking for Pipefitter Journeymen who take pride in quality workmanship and have strong knowledge of shipboard systems, tools, and standards.
What You’ll Do:
Fabricate, install, remove, repair, and test marine piping systems (ASW, Fire Main, Potable Water, Fuel Oil, Hydraulic, Exhaust, etc.) to NAVSEA, MSC, ABS, or other regulatory standards. Work from drawings and specifications to ensure precision targeting and fit-up (including P-73 joints). Operate shop equipment such as pipe benders, threading machines, brazing equipment, and drill presses. Perform boundary air tests and tank blanking. Guide and mentor Improvers and Helpers as needed. Maintain safe work practices per OSHA standards and shipyard policies. Submit documentation (CFRs, test results, etc.) and follow up with Quality Assurance protocols.
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 6 years’ pipefitting experience , with at least 3 years in a maritime environment. Certified in MT Braze B-1 and B-2 , or the ability to certify. Strong knowledge of silver brazing theory, targeting techniques, and ship terminology. Ability to interpret blueprints, specs, and standard items. Comfortable with math operations and both US/metric measurement systems. Physically capable of climbing, crawling, lifting (50-75 lbs), and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Required PPE:
You must be able and medically cleared to wear all PPE including: Hard hat, respirator, steel toe boots, goggles, fall protection, flotation gear, etc.
Work Environment:
This is a hands-on, high-energy shipyard environment. Work may occur inside tanks, on scaffolding, or in all-weather outdoor conditions.
