Pipefitter
- Pipefitter, is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of variousmaterials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel andstainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizingvarious tools and equipment in accordance with drawing,arrangements and blue prints. Production areas at times involveworking at different
- heights, confined spaces, different weatherconditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.
As with mostevery position in the shipyard, a Pipefitter may be required towork either day or night dependent upon the number of ships underconstruction at any one point in time. We stress the practice ofworking safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting,and most times, exceeding industry standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 Yrs. trade experience
- Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
- Knowledge of the layout, fit-up, fabrication andinstallation of pipe, flanges and valves
- Read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprintsutilizing both metric and standard measurements

This role involves working under extremehot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to standfor the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs,balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members mustoccasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific visionabilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision,depth perception, and the ability to focus.
