KSCCo has an exciting opportunity for a Pipe Layer/Laboer. This position will assist in the safe completion of a variety of tasks associated with heavy construction. Following a familiarization of safety procedures and a thorough review of each tool’s user manual, the laborer may operate small power and hand tools. This position works in accordance with policies, procedures, and the philosophy of Kemp Sigmon Construction Company.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Necessary skills to safely and professionally utilize grading equipment and other heavy equipment on job site Perform other duties as assigned and reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/QUALIFICATION

Must believe in the core vision of KSCCo, applying professional action and follow up to support KSCCo’s commitment to customer service Must be able to commute to job sites NCDOT bridge experience highly preferred Must be willing to learn new skills such as small hand power tools and willing to learn how to operate heavy equipment Capability to safely and adequately perform site work activities Agility, coordination, and alertness are necessary as work is in vicinity of heavy equipment and traffic Must possess a valid driver’s license Reliability is an essential function of the job Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner Accept responsibility for your safety, as well as the safety of others Willingness to travel as necessary Ability to read and follow written instructions Ability to work independently as well as be a part of the team with minimal day to day supervision – must be self-directed Demonstrates a positive attitude, self-motivation, empathy, and resourcefulness while maintaining a reputation that reflects proactive team participation. Is client focused and presents a willingness to assist the team where/when needed. Demonstrate strong work ethic with a commitment to professional behavior and interactions Must be able to pass a criminal background check, MVR, and pre-employment drug screening

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position will be outdoors in all weather conditions and vary from multiple job sites Must be able to: Maneuver within the work environment and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time with walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Apply physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, arm and leg extension Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction site Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as from oil, grease, gasoline, diesel fuel Frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area Must be able to use hands, fingers, hands and feet, talk and hear and smell Able to see clearly, identify and distinguish colors, see peripherally, have depth perception and are able to adjust focus Must be able to wear/utilize applicable safety equipment or practices to work in environments as needed Occasionally lift 100+ pounds Loud noise
