Job Description
Trades Generalist Environmental Conservation, Department of 5191 Route 353, Little Valley, NY 14755 The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Repair and Maintain Buildings and other Structures, which may require a general knowledge of carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills. Operate and complete routine maintenance on various pieces of heavy equipment. Operate dump truck to haul materials and heavy equipment. Purchase supplies and materials in accordance with Department Policy and Procedures. Responsible for filling out daily records and reports. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2026. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.
Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
