7:00 am to 4:00 pm Job description Candidates must possess the ability to read and interpret measurements using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Candidates must able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces. Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb Main Job responsibilities Performs fitting and machining operations such as straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, and countersink materials to close tolerances. Refers to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded. Lays out, fits, aligns, and assembles prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. May repair or rework parts to restore to required tolerances which have become distorted as a result of welding operations. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience Minimum Requirements Prior Shipyard Experience of 1 to 3 years.. Education High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate’s Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience. May require certification
