QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Must be a high school or trade school graduate from a regionally accredited school or have a G.E.D. equivalent. Must have three (3) years of experience in plumbing trade or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License. Must be insurable as determined by an investigation by MCPSS personnel into private and business driving records within any consecutive three-year time frame. Good general health, clean in attire and appearance. Regular and punctual attendance; full compliance with system sick leave and personal leave policies.

KNOWLEDGE OF

Must be familiar with the National Plumbing Code. Must be skilled in the use and care of tools, material, and equipment of the plumbing trade.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents including lesson plans, safety rules, attendance instructions, and school and district procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

COMPUTER SKILLS

General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use email, internet software, and word processing software. These that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully and satisfactorily. 1.Performs plumbing tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and drainage systems. 2.Makes general repairs to existing installations of water, waste, waste disposal, sprinkler systems, sewer plants, lift stations, and other plumbing installation. 3.Installs plumbing systems in buildings. 4.Replaces, cleans, and makes repairs to flush valves and faucets. 5.Removes stoppage from sewer lines. 6.Cuts, seams, and threads pipes. 7.Inspects sanitary and other plumbing installations for needed repairs. 8.Prepares estimates of materials. 9.Cuts, fits, and seals plastic pipes. 10.Maintains accurate and timely records of time, labor, and materials. 11.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Supervisors, Foremen, and other employees. 12.Completes work assignments without close supervision. WORK ENVIRONMENT

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Employees. Evaluation will be by the Trades Team Lead or Zone Coordinator or his/her designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

12-months (240 days) 8 hours per day. Daily work schedule will be determined by the Director of Maintenance or his/her designee. Work schedules are subject to change. The At Will Employee subject to the Students First Act of 2011 and other applicable state and federal laws. 


