Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving.
- Complete plumbing, drain cleaning, and other related in-home service calls.
- Serve the clients of Dr. Rooter by expertly diagnosing, servicing, and repairing customers’ entire plumbing system.
- Wear floor saver boot covers while in the client’s home and maintain a neat work area when performing a repair or scheduled maintenance.
- Treat a client’s home with the utmost care and cleanliness while completing necessary services.
- Always explain to the client what service you are performing. Educate the client on why the issue exists and offer Good, Better, and Best solutions as corrective actions. Explain and show the client how Dr. Rooter provides superior service.
- Understand your sales criteria and hold yourself accountable for exceeding revenue goals.
- Establish customer rapport to sell the right products and services.
- Re-check all plumbing repairs and installations after you’ve repaired or replaced it. Then, record it before leaving the client’s home to ensure everything is working properly and that we did, indeed, fix it right the first time. Verification that the problem was corrected is paramount to the success of our company and one of the pillars in our Outstanding Customer Experience Process.
- Educate and assist the customers in choosing the best finance options and maintenance plans for their needs.
- Explain the Dr. Rooter membership program to the client, giving them an opportunity to join.
- Present yourself as a professional by keeping a clean visual appearance, listening to the customer’s concerns intently, looking them in the eye while talking, and explaining basic plumbing system concepts in a way that they can understand and comprehend.
- Maintain your truck or van so that it is neat and clean on the inside and outside at all times. The vehicle is one of the best billboards that the company has. Park the truck for maximum impact on the billboard when possible.
- Work alongside Customer Service and Dispatch to ensure the best overall success of the company. We are focused on team centric operations and know that when the team wins, everyone wins.
- Be accurate, truthful, and timely with invoices, timecards, curbside feedback, and option sheets.
- Abide by the Dr. Rooter Code of Ethics and the Team Rules.
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and well inventoried truck. Keep and replenish any mandatory materials or equipment that may have been exhausted during the course of the workday.
- Participate actively in all training exercises, morning meetings, contractor classes, and retreats.
- Train and mentor apprentices to ensure quick, accurate repairs and installations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years home services trades or technical experience
- Plumbing license or certification preferred but not required
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic troubleshooting of plumbing systems
- Understanding of the current regulations outlined within the International Plumbing Code
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Ability to explain residential plumbing systems and concepts in layman’s terms to clients
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of power tools, safety, techniques, and upkeep maintenance
- Provide an acceptable driving record and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Driving records will be pulled and must pass requirements set forth by insurance agency

- Ability to lift 50 pounds multiple times throughout the workday
- Ability to pickup a minimum of 25 pounds and carry up to 250 feet unassisted multiple times throughout the workday
