Job Description
Pump Stations Operator I Renewable Water Resources 670 Mauldin Road, Greenville, SC 29607 Renewable Water Resources, a special purpose district created for the protection of public health and water resources, is seeking a successful candidate for the following position. The purpose of this position is to operate heavy equipment to assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of wastewater collection system force mains, sewer lines and manholes; to repair rights-of-way, creek banks and creek crossings; and to perform related work as required. This position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Essential Skills and Experience The successful candidate:
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair work.
- Must complete Gorman Rupp/KSB Pump Operation and Maintenance certification one (1) year from date of employment.
- Must complete in-house Mission Communication operator training within six (6) months from date of employment.
- Must complete in-house Vega operator training within six (6) months from date of employment.
- Must obtain in-house Confined Space Entry training within six (6) months of employment, transfer, or promotion.
- Must obtain a forklift certification within six (6) months of from date of employment. Position Responsibilities – Essential The selected candidate must be able to: Pay range $22.00-$27.00/hour The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Performs daily, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance checks and services.
- Assists in preparing and processing regular and preventive maintenance work orders, daily work sheets, purchase requisitions and related paperwork.
- Responds to emergencies in a timely manner, assesses the situation and puts actions in motion to ensure minimal downtime of equipment and systems.
- Assists in maintaining parts and supply inventory.
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
- Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary.
- Operates and inspects pumping equipment that transfers wastewater and regulates flow to collection system and/or treatment plant. Turns valves, pulls levers, and flips switches to operate, test and control a variety of pumps and motors.
- Reads and records data from a variety of gauges including flowmeters, level indicators, pressure and vacuum gauges to inspect and evaluate pump station equipment.
- Completes routine functional tests of onsite generators.
- Inspects equipment to detect malfunctions and/or loss of efficiencies.
- Utilizes a CMMS to enter, track and update maintenance and inspection activities and issues work orders to specific trade to complete repair work.
- Completes minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks as time permits.
- Tracks data, such as utilization of equipment, power consumption, and pump efficiency.
- Monitors scada telemetry daily of pump station operation and investigates abnormalities or system deficiencies.
- Collects grab samples at pump station sites, if needed or required and deliver to ReWa laboratory for testing.
- Communicates abnormalities seen at pump station sites with treatment plants and/or pretreatment department.
- Completes daily logbook of completed tasks.
- Adjusts chemical feed systems within the collection system as needed.
- Observes gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment is working properly.
- Determines causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Controls operations of equipment or systems.
- Monitors performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Assists with the maintenance of pump station sites within the Collection System as needed or required.
- Assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines.
- Maintains a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, internal and external customers.
- Serves on call 24 hours a day as scheduled and responds to emergency situations as necessary.
- Attends meetings, training, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
