As a Rigger, you will play a crucial role in the shipbuilding process by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of heavy materials and equipment. This hands-on position requires expertise in rigging techniques, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
Responsibilities:
Perform rigging activities to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on ships. Inspect and maintain rigging equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with crane operators, dockworkers, and other team members to execute lifting operations safely. Interpret and follow rigging plans, blueprints, and specifications. Utilize various rigging tools and equipment, such as slings, shackles, and hoists, to secure loads. Conduct safety inspections and participate in safety meetings to promote a secure working environment. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate rigging activities.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Rigger in a shipyard or maritime environment. Knowledge of rigging techniques, equipment, and safety standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, rigging plans, and specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in a marine environment. Relevant certifications (e.g., NCCCO Rigger Certification) are a plus.
