Essential Functions/Duties:

Including but not limited to: Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, and chains to crane hook. Give directions to Crane Operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or radio. Signals or gives direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches. Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle. Coordinate the movement of equipment and materials according to visual signals and directions. Rate information, using standards that can be measured or checked. Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations. Regular attendance is required. Significant travel may be required. Performs other duties as required. Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability before engaging in hoisting and lifting

Basic Requirements & Qualifications:

Including but not limited to: Must be at least 18 years of age. Completed a Rigging course at a technical, trade school or seminar or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor. Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points. Must be able to lift 50 pound objects, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
