Job Description:
Eskola, LLC•The Tampa, Florida branch is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Roofing Waterproofing Caulker to join our team. This role involves sealing and waterproofing commercial roofing systems to prevent leaks and enhance durability. The ideal candidate has experience applying caulks, sealants, and coatings to roofing penetrations, flashing, joints, and other critical areas. Attention to detail, material efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for success in this role.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Waterproofing & Caulking Application:
Apply high-performance waterproofing sealants, caulks, and coatings to commercial roofing systems, including: Expansion joints Roof penetrations (vents, pipes, HVAC curbs) Masonry Control Joints Sidewalk Joints Window Glazing Finish Caulking Parapet walls and coping joints Flashing and termination bars Skylight and window perimeters Ensure proper tooling and finishing of sealants to achieve a clean, uniform, and watertight seal.
Surface Preparation & Installation:
Remove old caulking, dirt, and debris to ensure optimal adhesion of new materials. Prime surfaces as required for proper bonding. Install backer rods, bond breakers, and reinforcing materials where necessary. Follow manufacturer guidelines for temperature, humidity, and curing times of waterproofing materials.
Quality Control & Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to ensure leak-proof seals and a professional finish. Identify problem areas and recommend solutions for long-term waterproofing performance. Perform water testing when necessary to confirm proper installation.
Material Management & Efficiency:
Minimize waste by using sealants efficiently and planning material needs in advance. Properly store and handle caulks, sealants, and coatings to prevent waste and contamination. Plan ahead to ensure all required materials and tools are on-site, avoiding unnecessary supply runs.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow OSHA safety regulations and company policies. Use proper PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, and respirators when required. Work safely on rooftops, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial lifts. Always comply with fall protection and harness requirements.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience in commercial roofing, caulking, or waterproofing is required. Strong attention to detail•caulk must be applied neatly and efficiently. Knowledge of roofing materials, sealants, and waterproofing systems. Ability to work at heights and on various commercial roofing systems (flat roofs, TPO, EPDM, metal, etc.).
Proficiency with caulking tools:
caulk guns, backer rods, putty knives, sealant pumps, and finishing tools. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, wind). Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent planning skills to prevent job delays and avoid unnecessary supply store trips. Must be able to travel to out of town projects as required. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or scaffolding. Must be comfortable climbing ladders and working at various heights.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Experience with specific commercial roofing systems (e.g., TPO, PVC, or EPDM) or waterproofing materials is a plus. Aerial Lift and Forklift certified OSHA 10 or 30-hour card Certified Applicator Training for major sealant manufacturers (Tremco, Sika, Carlisle, etc.) Bilingual (English/Spanish) Experience working in a fast-paced commercial roofing environment.
