- Fabrication Division 3701 Kennesaw South Industrial Drive NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144 Job Overview We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer lead our engineering team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal and weldment fabrication, machining and be proficient in SolidWorks design. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and fabrication principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and clients. The ideal candidate is a self starter that can work independently, communicate effectively and take ownership of projects from conception through production in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, with a focus on sheet metal, weldments, and machined parts. Create and manage detailed SolidWorks models and drawings, ensuring manufacturability and proper tolerancing. Work closely with fabrication and machining teams to ensure designs are practical, produceable and cost-effective. Own and manage projects from initial concept to production release Perform design reviews, make iterative improvements, and troubleshoot issues during prototyping and production. Maintain design documentation, BOMs, and revision control Collaborate with estimating and purchasing to support quoting and material sourcing & costs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Experience in a short run, high turn Manufacturing or Fabrication shop environment. Proficiency in SolidWorks, including sheet metal, weldments, and large assemblies. Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, weldments, and machining processes. Experience with project scheduling tools to manage timelines effectively. Proven ability to work independently and take initiative. Knowledge of CNC machining processes for fabricating components accurately. Hands on experience with prototyping and shop floor operations and machines. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities Strong organizational skills. Proficiency in
