Full Job Description Position Overview:

Approved Sheet Metal is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented custom sheet metal fabrication Estimator with a high sense of urgency to join our team. This role is critical in generating accurate and fast quotes for custom sheet metal parts, assemblies, and components, primarily for prototyping and short-run production. The ideal candidate has a strong background in sheet metal fabrication, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret customer RFQs, drawings, 3D models, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Calculate material usage, labor hours, and machine time for cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to verify feasibility and manufacturability.
• Prepare and send quotes directly to customers.
• Communicate with customers to clarify requirements or suggest design-for-manufacturability improvements.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating accuracy and quote turnaround times.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in estimating or quoting in a precision sheet metal fabrication environment.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including laser cutting, press brake forming, welding, hardware insertion, and finishing.
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and quoting software (e.g., Fulcrum, JobBOSS, E2, Paperless Parts, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, math, and communication skills.
• CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar) is a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
