experience level: mid level job title: Metal Fabrication Shop Technician Job description Overview Twin Resources is a large design/build construction firm specializing in landscape construction and Maintenance. We are currently seeking a versatile, quality and safety-minded individual for our Life Forms Fabrications subsidiary. Our fabrication subsidiary works with many wood varieties, various metals, and occasionally fiberglass and concrete. This position is to assist in the creation of architectural structures, accessories, and catalog pieces. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the tools of the trade and should have overlapping experience across the different skill sets. The ideal candidate must be able to measure and construct from scale drawings or blueprints. We do in-house design as well as fabrication for clients’ plans. Duties Fabricate metal components according to blueprints and specifications. Operate power tools and machinery, including saws, drills, and welding equipment. Assemble and build metal structures using various techniques. Conduct machining tasks to achieve precise dimensions and finishes. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols. Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met. Requirements Knowledge and at least 2 years experience in metalworking including: stick/mig/tig welding brazing plasma and saw cutting; drilling, bending/forming, punching, sandblasting, grinding prep and finish/painting work. Proficient in using power tools and machinery related to metal fabrication. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical drawings. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations. Familiarity with machining processes is a plus. Use of material handling equipment. Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Priority consideration shall be given to applicants who are certified in welding, skilled in CNC wood and metal routing machinery, CNC plasma table or CNC press brake operation. The ideal candidate will also have woodworking skills which would include the safe operations of equipment, including but not limited to, sawing, shaping, jointing, sanding, drilling, gluing, clamping, and finishing. Knowledge of both hardware, softwoods, and composite materials used in exterior applications is a plus. Proficiency with AutoCAD/rendering/Sketchup software, CNC design software (Vectric, Bobcad-Cam, etc.), design reviewing and cost estimating, or experience with calculating project material requirements is also a plus.
