Landscape Hardscape Crew Manager 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 1692 NC Highway 68 N, Oak Ridge, NC 27310 About the Role GLS Landscaping & Maintenance is seeking an experienced and motivated Crew Leader to oversee our landscape and hardscape installation projects . This role requires a working knowledge of construction practices, leadership skills, and strong equipment operating experience. You’ll lead a crew on residential and commercial installations including patios, retaining walls, drainage systems, sod, plantings, and grading. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural and aesthetic hardscaping, including retaining wall systems, paver installation, grading, and stormwater/retention pond construction. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and job site leadership.
Key Responsibilities Retaining Walls:
Install modular block and natural stone retaining walls Read and interpret engineer drawings and site grades Ensure proper drainage and structural integrity
Hardscaping & Pavers:
Install patios, walkways, and driveways using pavers and natural stone Perform base prep, compaction, layout, and final finish work Use of plate compactors, saws, levels, and other masonry tools
Retention Ponds & Drainage Systems:
Excavate, grade, and line stormwater retention and detention systems Install pipes, catch basins, and erosion control features Follow local codes and environmental guidelines
Grading & Site Prep:
Perform rough and final grading using skid steers, mini excavators, and hand tools Ensure site drainage and elevations match plan specifications Set forms, string lines, and grade stakes Qualifications Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in hardscape, site grading, and drainage systems Strong knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trade Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans Experience operating machinery such as skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, and compactors Physically fit and able to work in outdoor conditions Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus) Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus What We Offer Competitive hourly pay and overtime opportunities Steady year-round work Professional equipment and support Opportunity to grow within a skilled and respected team Paid holidays and vacation (after probationary period) Growth opportunity
