Job Description:
The Board of Directors of Youth Empowerment Through the Arts andHumanities, Inc. (YEAH!) governs the overall execution of theorganization’s mission. The Board manages organizational financesand sets long-term priorities for programs, including thedevelopment of music camps and programs, mission and strategy, andfundraising plans. Additionally, the Board oversees the ExecutiveDirector, who is responsible for day-to-day management of theorganization. Board members contribute the educational, management,legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long-termorganizational stability and educational excellence for YEAH’smission.
The Board of Directors has no limit on the number of itsvoting members. Terms are for three (3) years.
Board MembershipRequirementsBoard Members hold a fiduciary responsibility for themanagement of organizational capital and ensuring appropriatefilings with federal, state, and local authorities consistent withthe organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofitorganization.
Additional required responsibilities include:
Board Meetings:
Monthly attendance, hybrid format. Theattendance policy allows for removal if two consecutive meetingsare missed without notice.
Strategic Plan:
Participation in year-round fundraising anddiversity efforts, and one of the following committees: Governance,Finance, Programs, or Marketing.
Annual Donation:
$1,000 cash or budget-relievingresources.
Program Showcases:
Attend 2-3 per year.
Community Events:
Attend 1-2 per year.
Annual Board Meeting:
3-4 hour workshop-style.

Qualifications:
A passion for music and youth empowerment. Experience in one or more of the following areas: education,non-profit management, finance, law, fundraising, marketing,community outreach, or music/arts education. An active member and contributor in one or more diverse andmarginalized communities. Demonstrated ability to contribute to fundraising efforts,including securing donations and sponsorships. Understanding of and commitment to promoting diversity, equity,inclusion, and accessibility within the organization and thecommunity. Willingness and ability to attend regular board meetings,participate in committee and community events, and engage infundraising activities. Ability to contribute to the development and implementation ofstrategic plans and initiatives. Strong connections within diverse community groups and theability to leverage those connections to benefit YEAH!. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
PreferredAdditional Qualifications Prior board of directors or leadership experience. Non-profit experience. Youth mentorship. Event planning and execution. Advocacy and public policy experience related to arts,education, and youth programs.
