- Position Summary
- The Senior Director, Biopharma Strategy will play a pivotal role within the Biopharma and Business Development (BBD) organization at Caris Life Sciences, driving strategic components of the BBD BioPharma Strategy and go-to-market strategy for new products.
The Senior Director, Biopharma Strategy will report to the VP, Biopharma strategy. This leader has the future potential for people management. This leader will focus on the framework and tactical execution of the biopharma strategy, ensuring the effective implementation of strategic initiatives, operational plans, and partnership activities to advance Caris’ position as a partner-of-choice for biopharma companies for precision medicine, oncology, and real-world data solutions. The Senior Director will collaborate cross-functionally to drive execution of go-to-market plans, support business development efforts, commercial AI strategy and operationalize strategic frameworks developed with the VP and BBD leadership. BioPharma Business Development (BBD) is a critical focus of the company, which will expand the growing portfolio of oncology business for Caris by leveraging the company’s leading technologies in molecular science, laboratory and bioinformatic platforms, and drug development accelerating capabilities. The incumbent will understand the unique capabilities of Caris, and in a tailored manner, will support the development of differentiated positioning for those capabilities to address real-world needs for decision-makers within oncology pharma and biotech in their efforts to enhance research and development activities, identify novel targets, expand existing indications, improve commercial efficiency, and accelerate clinical trial accrual and success.
- Job Responsibilities
- + Drive the BBD Biopharma strategy, vision and strategic positioning of products as a thought partner to the VP, Biopharma strategy and CBO.
+ Responsible for developing a strategic approach, key messages, tactics and a to specifically and flexibly address the key needs of potential Biopharma partners. + Translate the BBD Biopharma Strategy into actionable operational plans, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution of key initiatives. + Support the prioritization and tactical management of partnerships, including opportunity assessments, solution customization for partner portfolios, and follow-through on deliverables. + Lead the execution of go-to-market strategies for new offerings, including support for AI capabilities, early detection, and multi-cancer early detection initiatives. + Partner with marketing, product, and commercial teams to ensure alignment and delivery of strategic content, sales materials, and campaign execution. + Track, report, and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) for business development initiatives, providing regular updates and recommendations to leadership. + Serve as a subject matter expert on Caris’ molecular profiling, bioinformatics, and clinical trial acceleration solutions, supporting external presentations and partner engagements as needed. + Identify and address operational gaps or barriers to execution, proactively problem-solving to maintain momentum on strategic projects. + Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in oncology, diagnostics, and biopharma partnerships. + Represent Caris at external medical forums and conferences.
- Required Qualifications
- + >8 years professional work experience, with >3 years in BioPharma, BioPharma-facing, or Business Development roles + Bachelor’s Degree + Demonstrated success in executing complex cross-functional projects or partnerships in a biopharma or precision medicine context + Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills + Exceptional interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication + Entrepreneurial orientation characterized by independent problem-solving, pragmatism, and resourcefulness + Superior strategic thinker with the ability clearly present complex information in simplified constructs + Extensive knowledge of the research and development business processes within BioPharma, including understanding of internal decision-maker constituencies + Strong understanding of oncology drug development, companion diagnostics, laboratory services, and/or real-world data solutions.
+ Some travel is required: ~10% with emphasis on medical meetings and select Caris events
- Preferred Qualifications
- + Master’s Degree or PhD strongly preferred. + Experience in molecular biology, with knowledge of drug discovery and clinical development processes, and/or diagnostics and platforms + Experience operationalizing strategic frameworks, including go-to-market planning, partnership management, and performance tracking

- Annual Hiring Range
- $260,000 – $300,000 Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
