SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager Consumer Insights will lead the consumer learning agenda for iconic food brands within the Tyson Foods portfolio. They will influence critical business decisions by working collaboratively and cross functionally to develop brand and innovation strategies that are grounded in consumer understanding. This individual will report to the Director Consumer Insights & Strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate holistic thinking, strategic agility, and leadership with all levels of the organization. Lead the consumer learning agenda to address business objectives by working with cross-functional teams in Innovation, Marketing, Business Units, R D, Sales, suppliers, agencies, and consultants. Execute primary research and source syndicated scanner and panel data when relevant. Manage external suppliers to execute research projects efficiently, while ensuring that consumer learnings are synthesized to tell a cohesive and actionable story. Communicate consumer insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner both through written and verbal communication. Effectively manage consumer insights budget to proactively address both immediate and forward-looking strategic needs. Oversee day-to-day responsibilities, growth, and development of 1-2 direct reports Develop and enhance Consumer Insights standards and procedures for the enterprise by utilizing best-in-class research practices as well as new and innovative methods.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Psychology, Market Research or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
8+ years of relevant experience preferably on the manufacturer-side and with a branded consumer-packaged-goods company or combination of supplier-side and manufacturer-side experience. Innovation and Food industry experience a plus.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office products
SPECIAL SKILLS
Demonstrated success in leveraging consumer insights to drive business results. Must be able to develop an objective point-of-view and be seen as strategic thought leader on team to build constructive rapport with internal clients and outside research suppliers. Excellent planning and project management skills. Strong knowledge of marketing and market research fundamentals. A highly motivated leader eager to learn, with the ability to devise an effective solution in unstructured situations. Willingness to use a Test-and-learn approach to explore emerging research methods.
Proficient in the following:
Consumer segmentation and profiling, Category assessments, Purchase drivers and barriers, Concept development, optimization and validation, Brand strategy, equity, and positioning, Campaign and communication pre-testing and tracking, Need-states mapping, Identifying and utilizing trends to build foundation for successful innovation launches
