Position Summary
The Business Systems Analyst supports the Engineering Operations team’s portfolio of applications and custom tools that drive engineering and operational efficiency. Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, this role is responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements, improving systems functionality, and ensuring continuous improvement across business processes and tools. This position requires strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills to translate complex business needs into actionable technical solutions. Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering
Conduct in-depth interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand their needs and pain points
Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements
Documentation
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including process flows, user guides, technical specifications, and requirement traceability matrices
Process Analysis & Improvement
Analyze and evaluate existing workflows and systems to identify inefficiencies
Propose and implement improvements that increase operational efficiency and user satisfaction
Data Analysis
Use analytical tools to evaluate data trends and extract insights that inform decision-making and solution design
System Support & Maintenance
Support ongoing functionality of business systems through configuration, enhancement, troubleshooting, and user training
Collaborate with development teams to test, validate, and implement system changes
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, IT, and operations teams
Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for end users
Change Management
Evaluate and communicate the impact of system or process changes
Develop and execute change management and training plans
Risk & Quality Assurance
Identify and mitigate potential risks in process and system implementations
Define and execute test cases and acceptance criteria for system changes
Project Leadership & Facilitation
Facilitate meetings and workshops
Contribute to or lead cross-functional project teams as needed
Continuous Improvement
Monitor key performance indicators and feedback loops to support ongoing innovation and performance enhancements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Minimum 4 years of experience as a business systems analyst or in a related field
Proven ability to analyze business problems, document requirements, and deliver system solutions
Strong understanding of system integration, UI/UX, and process optimization
Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Availability to support 24/7 system availability as needed Preferred Qualifications
Experience in engineering operations or technical domains
Familiarity with Agile, ITIL, SDLC methodologies
Hands-on experience with enterprise systems and applications
Exposure to tools such as Jira, Confluence, or ServiceNow
Certification(s) such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile BA Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
Business analysis tools, best practices, and frameworks
Business system design, functionality, and integration
IT operations, project management, and vendor relations Skills in:
Analytical thinking and problem-solving
Communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement
Technical documentation and process mapping Ability to:
Translate business problems into technical solutions
Lead projects and mentor peers

Regular collaboration with technical teams, business users, product managers, and vendors
May require working evenings or weekends to support critical system updates or issues Open Requirements
Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of relevant experience
OR
8 years of combined education, training, and experience in business systems analysis or a related domain
