Responsibilities This role will support the MayoClinic in Florida CFO and is responsible for the management of theFlorida Financial Planning & Analysis team. The Senior DirectorFinance Services will extend the reach of Mayo Clinic’s chieffinancial officers (CFOs), by being the face of Finance and drivingthe execution of its agenda as a delegate of the CFO and ensuringCFO involvement at the right time by acting as a gate-keeper andmonitoring information flow. This position is responsible forworking with the CFO to prioritize and focus effort on the highestlevel priorities and/or delegate work to the appropriate person(s).Builds and maintains excellent relationships with Financeleadership and other C-suite leaders (strategy, public affairs,business development, digital, practice, research, education, etc)to enable effective collaboration and coordination in pursuit oforganizational priorities, high service levels, and a reasonablecost to serve. The position will be a primary lead on the executionof Finance’s transformation journey, working with financeleadership and others to ensure it is well planned, wellcommunicated, and well executed. Key elements of this work includethe identification of gaps and needs in knowledge skills andabilities as well as necessary elements of culture change;continued surveillance of leading edge practices in healthcare andother industries; identification of suboptimal approaches,processes, and policies in Mayo Clinic’s finance structure;creation and execution of a workforce strategy that includesdiverse sourcing, workforce development, and succession planning;and the development of a next generation approach to patientfinancial interactions (“easier than Starbucks”). The position willtake an active role in all these dimensions of the overall plan andwill be the primary lead on many of them. The position will developstrategies to execute operational best practices and provideleadership for the business operations function. Drives excellencein financial management, communication (verbal, written andpresentations), business and strategic planning, performancemonitoring and reporting. Effectively partners with the ChiefFinancial Officer to plan and create meeting agendas, activitiesand communications. Leads the development, communication andimplementation of effective strategies and processes that supportthe operations of the department. Ability to set and measurestandards for performance in all areas of the department,periodically reviewing reports on programs. Works closely withHuman Resources to onboard new talent, facilitate the departmentalFTE review and approval, annual budget preparation, including datafor analyzing, planning and allocation of resources, and changemanagement. Supports department, division and institutionalprojects, staff recruitment, policy implementation, and serves as aprimary resource for issues and communications within theoperations function. Develops advances and executesprojects/programs that leverage the lean agile methodology toenable Finance to deliver incremental value and meet strategicobjectives. The position may or may not have direct reports,depending upon the specific assignment. If the Senior Director isin support of a DMC CFO, then the position will be directlyresponsible for management of the Financial Planning & Analysisteam for that DMC. The Senior Director may be responsible formanaging a team of staff with a focus on high quality and timelydeliverables, the continuous growth, development and engagement ofstaff and an eye to drive continuous improvement and efficienciesin processes. The position will oversee the development andimplementation of financial and operational reporting, including:volumes, labor productivity and cost efficiency, revenue, payer mixand pricing, costing and analytics, provider productivity, businesscases and valuations/ROIs and other analytical tools to supportaccuracy of reporting financials and identifying financial valueenhancement opportunities. This role will regularly collaboratewith the Enterprise’s shared services areas to ensure accurate useof data and analytics, recommend enhancements based on emergingtrends within the enterprise and partner to develop new analyticsand tools to further improve support to operations. Activelycommunicates and presents information to various audiencesincluding institutional and site-based leadership. Providesdirection and interprets management financial information withsignificant institutional impact. Is recognized and relied upon tosynthesize various subject matter expert inputs to formulatesolutions and implement change for multi-disciplinary or complextechnical issues. Stays abreast of emerging issues and risks andplans accordingly. Travel required as assignments warrant. •Thisposition is a combination of remote and onsite support work.

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience with a focus onstrategy and operations is required. Must have a broad-basedknowledge of office support and computer systems along withspreadsheets, databases, statistics, software knowledge andinstallation; and accounting practices for budgetaryresponsibilities. Must possess strong leadership, business,analytical, oral and written communication, presentation skills,and superior interpersonal skills to facilitate effectiverelationships both within and outside of Mayo Clinic; solidorganizational and project management skills; strategic judgment;track record in building positive, cross-functional relationships.
He/she must possess political savvy and the ability to functioneffectively in a complex and often ambiguous environment, withconsensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Musthave experience managing and leading teams. Must be able to takebusiness services from strategic consultation through tacticalexecution in a team setting and be able to develop key performanceindicators/metrics to ensure success. Experience developing andexecuting business plans is important. This position requiressomeone who is a self-starter with ability to manage multiplepriorities and with attention to detail. Will evaluate and improveupon existing processes and develop/implement new processes whereappropriate. Meets deadlines with enthusiasm and confidence.
Proactively identifies and mitigates risk with meticulous projectplanning and creative solutions. Must be able to garner trust andinfluence. Experience in driving change by influencing seniorexecutives, making recommendations to drive growth or improve ROI,and/or leading implementation of process-based initiatives. Highdegree of competency in data, analytics, financial analysis and/ordirectly comparable quantitative skillset. Is a creativeproblem-solver and adapt at storytelling when reporting outcomes.
