This is a senior role for a high judgment operator—someone who sees around corners, thrives on complexity, and brings rigor to big ideas. The DSI will orchestrate cross-functional efforts across public, private, and philanthropic stakeholders to ensure timely, mission-aligned delivery of real estate, economic development, and placemaking initiatives. Preferred Skills/Specialized Training Brings experience at the intersection of real estate, economic development, and public/private partnerships—ideally with multi-year, campus-scale development projects. Has led or supported the formation of complex capital stacks across private, public, and philanthropic funding sources. Thinks inductively—navigating ambiguity, seeing patterns, and creating structure where none exists. Writes and communicates with clarity and persuasion, adjusting for audiences from investors to elected officials. Is obsessively process-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of transforming strategic priorities into operational progress. Collaborates with a range of stakeholders and is comfortable with leading from behind, building consensus through data-driven dialogue. Confidently curious—and builds trust and credibility by asking the right questions, early and often. Passionate about connecting R D to real-world impact in health and economic prosperity Strategic Execution & Special Projects Serve as a force multiplier for the Speros President,Speros board, and related Moffitt executive leadership, turning high-level priorities into actionable workstreams. Lead initiatives related to district governance, team development, master planning, and institutional partnerships. Draft and occasionally present board memos, public presentations, and executive briefings that distill complexity into clarity. Works alongside the President to integrate Moffitt’s clinical, research, and innovation priorities and differentiated capabilities into the Speros strategy for development. Develops strategy scenarios for development, integrates planning with milestones for execution against development pro formas. Public-Private Partnership Management Collaborate with government entities on infrastructure investments, incentive structuring, and joint development. Support the execution of development agreements, funding MOUs, and P3 strategies. Monitor policy developments that could impact campus funding and expansion. Regularly liaises with developers, tenants, and capital providers on Speros priorities. Build and maintain key external relationships—including Speros board members, higher ED partners, capital providers, tenants, and public-sector funders. Stakeholder Alignment & Communication Maintain alignment across departments at Moffitt and Speros, as well as with developers and public sector partners. Act as a trusted advisor to the President on crossfunctional and strategic matters, including team development, culture, and communications. Represent Speros at external meetings, conferences, and events with biotech firms, real estate partners, and civic stakeholders. Produce consistent updates, dashboards, and strategy documentation for leadership and partners. Organizational Backbone & Process Optimization Manage the rhythm of business—ensuring near-term priorities and long-range vision stay in sync. Build systems, processes and dashboards for meeting cadences, decisionmaking, project tracking, document control, and internal alignment. Lead internal process improvements that enhance execution speed and cross-team coordination. Facilitate internal meetings, retreats, and strategic planning sessions. Escalate and resolve challenges efficiently while fostering a culture of shared accountability. Co-create and embed core values and operating behaviors across the growing Speros organization. Minimum Experience Required Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in real estate, economic development, capital planning, or strategic operations. Alternatively, bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Demonstrated success in navigating both public and private sector environments. Exceptional written and verbal communicator with strong facilitation and storytelling skills. Deep project management capability with a passion for process design and continuous improvement.
