Business Analytics Manager Position Available In DeKalb, Georgia

Founded in 1906, Radius Recycling has become one of the nation’s largest recyclers of scrap metal. Today, Radius operates 95 recycling facilities, including seven deep water ports – on both U.S. coasts and in Hawaii and Puerto Rico – which enable efficient delivery of processed scrap metals to steel mills and foundries around the world. The Business Analytics Manager (BAM) position reports to the Assistant Controller. The BAM will be responsible for all aspects of accounting for the Recycling Services Division. The BAM will partner and work closely to support the Assistant Controller/Financial Business Partner, Sr Business Analysts and Business Analysts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Managing period-end close for the Recycling Services Division. Successful close management requires coordination with operations personnel and the Corporate Accounting team. Diligently managing numerous manual accounting processes including creating and maintaining spreadsheets for suppliers, entry of transactions into SAI and Oracle, and a robust review and monthly reconciliation. Reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations with emphasis on compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal policies and procedures. May require preparing journal entries as needed. Reviewing and updating monthly pricing tables for scrap material. Resolving current past AR variances and to keep up with the variances as the business grows. Entering vendor set up requests in Oracle and setting up new scrap suppliers in SAI. Oversight of daily invoicing for Brokerage sales with emphasis on revenue recognition standards. Reviewing A/R issues and providing guidance to the Business Analysts and Sr Business Analysts on how to fix these in the system. Preparing and reviewing payment requests to suppliers. Following up with the Business Analysts and Sr Business Analysts on A/R issues resolution and reviewing entries for accuracy. Participating in the external and internal audit process and ensuring support provided to auditors is timely and accurate. Cross-training with the Assistant Controller on Budget, Forecast and Flash Forecast preparation. Working with the Assistant Controller to complete Forecast vs Actuals bridge analysis. Working closely with the Recycling Services Commercial Team. Liaison with suppliers, customers and outside haulers. Actively participating in building a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and skill sets:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution. 5+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years direct management of accounting staff. Manufacturing industry experience a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting. Proficient with Microsoft Excel software and ERP systems (preferably Oracle). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage, build relationships and communicate effectively. Willingness to challenge conventional thinking for the betterment of the company. Capable of thriving in a dynamic and constantly changing environment. Prepared to operate at all levels (no task is beneath you), stay connected to the details, audit frequently, and exercise skepticism when metrics and anecdote differ.
