Class Summary Job Description The Business Officer performs professional level work in providing fiscal and administrative support for the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. The incumbent will be responsible for various personnel actions for employees within the department. The Business Officer may serve as a lead to staff. Essential Duties
Distributing and processing FMLA paperwork for employees
Processing employee promotions upon request
Completing separation checklist for employees leaving and sending notifications to the proper individuals
Reviewing and Updating employee timesheets to ensure accuracy prior to payroll processing
Modify employee records to reflect changes in annual working hours and leave accruals
Entering and tracking hours for employees on military leave or reserve duty
Initiating and processing workers’ compensation claims in a timely matter
Making organizational structure changes in SAP, ensuring that reporting structures are up to date Printing and documenting double overtime hours to ensure proper payouts
Completing employment verification and submitting required documentation to the county and POAB for processing
Other Job Requirements/Information This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting
This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or a closely related field AND
Two years of professional level human resources experience An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
