$62,338.00 – $68,724.00
Hours/shift:
8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours per week) The City of Durham’s Department of Water Management (DWM) wants YOU to join our team of more than 380 talented and dedicated employees that provide critical water and sewer services for Durham’s 309,000 plus residents. Working in the Director’s Office as part of a 2-person team, this is a great position in which to launch your career in HR or hone your existing skills working within a business line supporting over 382 FTE. This role provides department-wide support in the ongoing talent lifecycle, sourcing external candidates for hard to fill positions. You will partner with area community colleges and high schools that have technical programs, leveraging online talent networks such as LinkedIn and Indeed, and promoting positions internally. Intermediate Excel skills are needed for monthly and ad-hoc reporting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter motivated to take on solo projects and work in a team oriented environment. You must have an eye for detail and be able to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and providing excellent customer service across the department and to core HR. As required, you will assist with other administrative duties that may include organizing, researching and resolving problems, and completing special projects. You will be asked to provide HR-related backup coverage for other administrative professionals within the department. Duties/Responsibilities Manage the recruitment lifecycle for a variety of roles with the DWM department
Partner with hiring managers to develop candidate profiles, strategies for sourcing internal, external, and passive candidates
Consult and advise hiring managers throughout the talent lifecycle
Leverage social media platforms to develop a brand presence with relevant, engaging content
Manage high-volume, diverse requisition load
Represent Water Management in the community and at hiring events
Provide department-wide backup for personnel action processing
Maintain central department requisition and personnel files
Serve as Water Management’s HR liaison with core HR. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Associate degree in business administration or field related to assignment
Three years of experience related to assignment. Additional Preferred Skills Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration
Experience with staffing, recruiting, or personnel
Intermediate Excel & Word software skills Intermediate writing skills
Strong oral communication & listening skills to conduct internal/external business with a focus on internal customer service
Problem solving skills to be able to deal with service delivery in a fast-paced environment
Visio & MUNIS a plus
North Carolina Public Notary may be preferred for some assignments. Employer
