- As a Principal Business Applications Analyst, you will play a strategic leadership role in driving the successful implementation and optimization of the StepWise software platform.
You will lead cross-functional efforts to gather and analyze complex business requirements, translating them into effective technology solutions that align with organizational goals. This role involves overseeing the configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of StepWise, while also guiding process design, system testing, and solution delivery. Your expertise will ensure that business needs are met with precision, efficiency, and innovation.
- What You’ll Do
- + Expertise in rating systems is required; As a consultant, super user, or technical design / implementation subject matter expert.
+ Hands-on professional experience creating and using Excel models and SQL-based systems to solve business problems / achieve clients’ expectations. + Understanding of healthcare payer industry issues, changes, and potential impacts to future final models. + Serve as the lead for multiple application areas, including data definitions, usage and file structure, technical structure of the code and the business rules, and structure of requirements that governs the functionality of the system. + Provide technical leadership and application expertise to multiple business project teams and non project related activities and in discovery and fact finding for the full understanding and execution of all types of assignments. + Lead development of StepWise Software modification requirements and Interface Design Specifications. Configure necessary tables in StepWise Software to support the specific business areas. Perform analysis of current usage of StepWise Software and reports back to business areas regarding improvements in process, data quality and results. + Establish and maintain all StepWise Software file configuration, including highly complex tasks. + Plan and serve as a key liaison with business areas during development and implementation. + Identify best practices, communicate and implement these practices within the department. + Independently analyze business problems or opportunities; develop recommendations and solutions for those problems/opportunities, implement those solutions, and provide communications on the associated actions, business impacts, and results. Facilitate completion of projects within the allocated time and budget + Coordinate work and provide direction and assistance to junior staff members + Provide detailed configuration expertise to customers and business partners. This includes verbal, written, and electronic communication, and delivering presentations when needed. + Provide consultative support in analyzing business requirements / use cases / functional requirements in order to ensure the development of efficient enterprise solutions. + Review StepWise Software technical design documents to ensure compliance with business area needs and BCBSNC standards. + Monitor configuration implementations to ensure common standards are followed, makes recommendations for standards improvements.
- What You Bring
- + Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree (where required) + 8+ years of experience in related field. + In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field.
- Bonus Points
- + Passing of Actuarial exams + Experience building rating models at a carrier + Experience with various reporting technologies (Tabeau etc) + Experience working in the healthcare industry on commercial and/or group business lines + Experience with user interface design and/or workflow design + Experience working with the StepWise Software

- Salary Range
- At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed.
Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus
