SEI is seeking an experienced and results-oriented PracticeManagement Consultant specializing in helping advisors and advisoryfirms successfully navigate business transitions, to join theAdvisor Sales & Client Team. SEI’s Advisor Services team iscommitted to helping advisors and their teams grow, scale, andnavigate key business transitions. This practice management role istailored for individuals deeply passionate about the independentadvisor profession, committed to ongoing learning, and able toleverage their expertise in business transitions to drivemeaningful outcomes within advisory practices. An ideal candidatepossesses a background as a financial advisor, business owner, orconsultant with substantial real-world experience in advisortransitions. The right candidate is excited about the opportunityto help build and evolve SEI’s Advisor Services transition functionand is willing and able to ideate, experiment, and executesolutions that deliver actionable advice and resources to advisors.
We’re looking for an individual who is an expert in advisortransitions—such as launching an RIA, succession planning,continuity planning, M&A, partner changes, selling or buying abusiness—with a track record of helping advisors make informeddecisions and take confident action. This role will direct thetransition pillar of SEI’s Advisor Services team and would have theopportunity to influence and support the other pillars of growthand scale. This role reports to the Managing Director of theAdvisor Services Team within the Advisor Sales & Client Team. Thisrole is ideally based in SEI’s Oaks, Pennsylvania headquarters, buta remote role is possible and requires up to 25% travel.
What youwill do:
Provide expert consultation, coaching, and education toindependent advisory practices on transition-focused practicemanagement topics, including launching an RIA, succession andcontinuity planning, partner changes, buying and selling apractice, M&A, and more. Conduct thorough assessments ofadvisory businesses to identify transition opportunities, risks,and readiness, offering actionable and customized recommendations.
Develop and deliver engaging content including presentations,workshops, and training sessions to advisors and their teams onbusiness transitions and related practice management topics. Createscalable resources, tools, and educational content to help advisorsplan for and execute successful transitions. Build and managestrategic partnerships with external transition experts,consultants, legal resources, and valuation providers to deliveradditional value to advisors. Partner closely with the SEI Sales &Client Team as a value-add transition resource. Direct and managespecial projects on the Advisor Services Team related to businesstransition strategies. Specifically, own the buildout of an advisortransition platform in partnership with an external partner. Act asa thought leader by contributing articles, webinars, and othereducational content on advisor transition.
What we need from you:
Aminimum of 10 years of experience helping financial advisors grow,scale, and transition their businesses through roles in consulting,coaching, practice management, or leadership within advisory firms.
First-hand experience with advisor transitions such as launching aRIA, partner transitions, internal and external succession, orM&A. Deep understanding of the independent advisor and RIAlandscape, including business, operational, and regulatoryconsiderations in transition scenarios. Exceptional communicationskills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complextopics in a clear, confident, and compelling way. Experience inmulti-channel communication mediums, including individualface-to-face interactions, in-person and virtual one-to-manypresentations, live video, recorded video, phone and email. Proventrack record of driving successful transitions and positiveoutcomes for advisory firms. Strategic thinker with the ability totranslate high-level strategies into practical, actionable adviceand plans. Highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and growthminded. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to supportadvisor events, presentations, and relationship management efforts.
This position is ideally headquarters-based in the Oaks,Pennsylvania Global Headquarters and requires up to 25% travel.
What we would like from you: Professional certifications (i.e.,CFP®, CIMA®, CEPA®) are advantageous but not mandatory. Familiaritywith valuation, deal structure, legal, and operational elements ofadvisor transitions. Experience designing educational content,playbooks, or decision frameworks to support advisor businesstransitions. Proficiency in analyzing business data and metrics toinform transition strategies.
