Job Description Job Description:
As part of the Revenue Integrity Department the revenue capture point person is responsible for accurate revenue capture and charge reconciliation. The incumbent reviews and revises accounts to achieve revenue enhancement and compliance. This position updates and reviews accounts to ensure acuate and complete charge capture and accurate timely billing. Additionally, the RCPP is responsible for monitoring assigned charge capture work queues, monitoring the revenue generated for assigned cost centers, reviewing accounts and resolving any edits or DNB’s preventing the claim from billing, validating and/ or communicating with appropriate providers/ departments that services were performed, reviewing charges daily and presenting any issues to Revenue Integrity Director for review and follow up. The revenue capture point person will be responsible for collaborating with clinicians, nurses, department managers and staff to ensure accurate charge capture operations are in place to include daily charge capture revenue, reconciliation and error correction processes. Examples of Typical Tasks:
Responsible for assigned Charge Review queues and the daily monitoring, correcting and posting of charges. Monitors daily charge capture, revenue reconciliation, late charge trending, revenue trending, and work queues for assigned departmental revenue owners for complaint charge capture detail and documentation integrity. Reviews work queues daily and present any issues to revenue Integrity Director for review and follow up. Review clinical charge discrepancies causing DNB errors in EPIC. Discuss issues with appropriate clinical personnel and resolve these errors. Reviews medical chart, including nursing notes, physician orders, progress notes, and surgical or specialty note thoroughly to interpret and validate all charges. Validates or communicates with appropriate providers that services were performed. Performs charge entry, charge approvals, and/or quality charge reviews, including but not limited to, appending modifiers and checking clinical documentation. Provides feedback to intra- departmental Revenue Integrity colleagues including areas of opportunity. Identify charging, coding or clinical documentation issues and work with ancillary departments to resolve issues and notify appropriate leadership. Prepare modifications to patient charges as a result of the audits and as required to ensure appropriate revenue integrity. Communicates, observes and reports on charge entry discrepancies, trends and patterns. Engages in continual education and training in the subject field. Other relevant duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Masters Degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience serving as a lead in soliciting, defining, and managing requirements for internally and externally developed software in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics or related area; or, one year of experience in a relevant clinical and/or healthcare administration role/function; or 2. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience as described above; or 3. A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience. 4. Specialty certification(s) issued by a national commercially available program, state, professional society, academic or technical institution in an area(s) listed above, may be credited on a month-to-month basis toward the required work experience for a total of one year.
Department’s Preferred Qualifications:
Must have a general understanding of ICD10 Coding, HCPCS/CPT Coding, revenue codes, charge capture, billing, medical chart review and revenue cycle processes. Knowledge of medical and billing terminology. Must be a critical thinker, possess excellent analytical and research skills and be detail oriented. Epic HB experience preferred.
