Job Description

We’re searching for Business Analyst to join the UPMC Enterprises team! This is a temporary position for approximately six months. The Business Analyst will use their keen, pragmatic skills to assess industries, businesses, and products. They are responsible for highlighting gaps and opportunities that support company-building and product roadmap activities from early-stage discovery through entry to market. •

Responsibilities:

•+ Works with users, business, market, and technical staff to identify problems and propose solutions + Conducts market and business analyses + Conducts financial planning, analysis and reporting + Maintains project planning documents, prepares materials, and writes and distributes high level workflow documents + Assesses the operational and functional requirements of an organization + Continuously improves business intelligence + Create, maintain, and continuously improve ability to report on performance metrics for the organization - understanding UPMC’s core strengths, gaps and programs + Supports Product Management in primary and secondary market research – including competitive analysis, etc. + Performs initial high level primary and secondary market research to drive problem-scoping, problem definition, problem prioritization within a defined focus area + Identifies and builds relationships with clinical / administrative champions in UPMC and Health Plan, in a specific product area + Builds out deep understanding of our capabilities, resources, assets and our gaps, requirements to succeed in product development in specific product areas + Drives continued business intelligence to understand market forces, size of opportunity, addressable market, profit drivers, differentiators needed to create winning solutions + Maps competitive landscape of products and players that address prioritized problems; identifies opportunities for technology, design, business model innovation + Supports coaching and development of other team members ad hoc on business development skillset + Performs all above in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors + Performs special projects and other duties as assigned + B.S. degree in quantitative field of study with a minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in business development, strategy, marketing or finance is preferred + MS or PhD preferred + Familiarity with business issues, or the ability to quickly learn + Understanding of health care IT + Excellent written and oral communication skills + Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills + Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities + Product management and design experience •
