Job Summary As a Lead Functional Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in building business and technology capabilities that allow Combined to compete in the market and deliver leading customer experiences. Business Analysts will be aligned to the following strategic initiatives:
Combined Connections:
Deliver leading digital experiences and self-service capabilities related to claims, agent sales, broker sales, and benefits administration.
Small Business Automation:
Enable profitable growth and scale operations through expanded underwriting offerings, enhanced worksite sales digital experiences, and increased process automation.
Billing & Premium Application:
Deliver a premiere billing experience for both users and customers through enhancements and process automation that accelerate premium application and deliver scalable, digital-first capabilities that enable operational effectiveness.
The Lead Functional Business Analyst will partner with product owners, business owners and stakeholders across Combined to successfully deliver projects, from defining requirements and designing solutions to articulating acceptance criteria and executing testing. Opportunities will be available for the role to take on Product Owner responsibilities and help lead multidisciplinary Agile delivery teams. As a Business Analyst, the individual will translate complex business and technical needs into user stories and test cases while defining business objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and short-term goals. Gaining a deep understanding of Combined’s processes, systems, and product portfolio will be key to leading improvement opportunities and conceptualizing viable and cost-effective designs. The role will work closely with a Product Owner, and act as a liaison between users and internal/external business partners to build new solutions and enhance existing features.
Responsibilities Articulate business needs in the form of well-defined and refined user stories, complete with acceptance criteria Leads and supports requirements refinement sessions in partnership with the Product Owner and development team Maintains complete and holistic understanding of business processes and systems that wrap around application functions Analyze and determine the need to change a business process or application through new development or customization of a packaged solution Align the business team around the scope of a solution and the logical requirements for the technical team to implement Contribute to product roadmaps for assigned systems, including upgrades, enhancements, and integrations Contribute to business cases and cost benefit analyses for new systems, features, or operational processes as required Develop a whole systems approach to analyze business issues and implement holistic solutions; consider upstream and downstream impacts Develop understanding and leverage Agile and Business Analyst core concepts, understanding the user journey and the end-product Assist in projects by: Leading or supporting the Product Owner and development team to define and refine functional user story requirements and non-functional requirements Facilitating the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders Delivering elements of solution design, including business rules, wireframes, or other detailed output with the implementation team Developing user stories, and executing user acceptance plan and testing criteria Documenting process diagrams, training materials/job aids Maintaining process flows and wireframes as incremental changes are made Report progress on assigned tasks

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with background in business, customer experience, or technology 7 years of experience supporting large-scale technology initiatives within the Insurance and Financial Services industry 5 years of business analysis experience working in Agile units (preferably as a business analyst or product owner in an insurance company or in an Insurtech) Demonstrated knowledge and proven execution of Agile and Waterfall methodologies Fintech, Insurtech, or end-to-end customer digital experience advantageous Customer first mindset and approach to product development Demonstrated understanding for the intersection of business, UX design, and technology Knowledge of Insurance distribution management and insurance customers (e.g. agents, brokers, employers and policyholders/claimants) Understanding of group vs. individual insurance and value chain (e.g., UW, new business, claims) Proven track record influencing others towards a common goal or vision Experience working in a multi-discipline, matrix structure that fosters collaboration/teamwork Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to clearly articulate messages Ability to communicate with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all levels Highly organized, extremely goal oriented mindset, logical, thorough, and detail-oriented Out of the box thinker who can take a step back and find alternative solutions Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
