Job Description

IT Business Analyst 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 215 Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 Old Hickory is looking to hire an experienced IT Business Analyst, who will be responsible for understanding and helping to optimize business technologies across multiple functional areas. The IT Business Analyst is responsible for understanding the business in multiple functional areas. The IT Business Analyst will help maintain relationships within the business and leverage requirements, software development practices and methods to enable improved business processes to drive success. The IT Business Analyst would align business strategies and capability needs into business and technical requirements to ensure IT systems enable the desired value. The IT Business Analyst will also assist in evaluation, testing, and validation of the company’s IT systems. Old Hickory is a fast-growing company and the leader in the portable buildings market. Essential Functions:
  • Analyze the company’s IT needs and help to develop plan for immediate and future use of updated/new systems to replace legacy systems
  • Work with different business units to analyze current applications and compare them to the business processes to determine gaps or deficiencies
  • Look critically at business processes and find creative technological solutions
  • Help determine and document root causes when an issue occurs and collaborate and document finding and fixing bugs
  • Be able to translate requirements into concise user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Act as point of contact for the development team with the business
  • Actively participate in all agile team meetings
  • Perform quality assurance review
  • Test new features and enhancements to the company’s IT systems for reliability, functionality, and user-friendliness before release to internal and external users
  • Assist with user acceptance testing and end user training as required
  • Create and maintain process diagrams and other documentation as necessary to clarify business processes
  • Create and maintain system interface diagrams, functional designs, technical specifications, and system functionality documentation
  • Assist with technology related questions/problems from internal users as well as external business partners and assist with user administration and training
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects
  • Work on complex projects of large scope
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of best practices for IT business analysis processes and functions (from both industry and strategic standpoint), including requirements elicitation methods. Knows emerging trends
  • Ability to define requirements in accordance with SDLC, management, and project/product scope.
  • Ability to ensure problem statements and objectives are clearly defined and requirements are aligned to project scope, objectives, and strategies.
  • Ability to lead elicitation sessions using variety of requirements gathering methods such as interviews, documentation analysis, surveys, site visits, business models with executives, managers, developers, and subject matter experts.
  • Able to facilitate team through analysis of complex business decisions.
  • Process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.
  • Understanding of basic relational SQL database concepts
  • A broad knowledge of software applications, networks, and quality assurance
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, both working alone and with a team
  • 1 – 5 year(s) of experience working on software projects
  • Highly productive and attentive to detail
  • Demonstrates excellent listening, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and project management skills
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to adjust to change rapidly and is flexible in a variety of situations
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Passionate/Self-motivated for on-going continuous learning
  • Excellent organizational skills preferred
  • Proven delivery track record
  • Experience with JIRA preferred Experience in Agile methodologies preferred
