Responsible for purchasing and negotiatingmaterials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendorquotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Mayrequire a bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of experience in thefield or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-usedconcepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to performthe functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

Primary job functions do not typically require exercisingindependent judgment. Buyers are primarily responsible for theacquisition of company materials and services, management ofvendors, and monitoring the flow of goods and services in oursupply chain. Quality, on-time delivery, and cost management arecritical to the success of the company, and are the main prioritiesof the Purchasing Agent. Typically reports to a supervisor ormanager

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree (or 7 yrs. experience indirect buying role) • 5-7 yrs. experience in purchasing andplanning

Desired:

Prepare requests for quotes and purchase orders.

Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services. Monitorexisting orders to ensure on time deliveries. Communicate withvendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and costconcerns. Expedite supplier orders as required to supportproduction. Build vendor base as required. Experience with MSOffice products (Excel, Word etc) and Costpoint • Problem solvingskills a must.
